Italy Announces 15,000 Visas for Pakistanis
According to Andreas Ferrarese, Italy’s Ambassador to Pakistan, more than 15,000 Pakistani citizens were granted visas by his country last year, and the number is expected to increase this year.
During an interview with a local TV station, Ferrarese disclosed that the Pakistani community in Italy sent €1 billion to Pakistan in 2022, and he expressed hope that the issuance of visas to Pakistani nationals would continue to rise this year.

The Ambassador highlighted Pakistan’s population of 220 million as a significant market for Italian goods. Ferrarese also emphasized that both countries are grappling with an energy crisis and are turning to green energy sources, learning from each other’s experiences in this regard.
In terms of tourism, Ferrarese stated that both Italy and Pakistan want their citizens to travel more frequently for tourism purposes. He expressed his personal desire to visit Multan, a city in Pakistan that he has yet to explore, despite having read and heard about its history. Ferrarese’s comments reflect the growing relationship between Italy and Pakistan, which includes increased economic cooperation, energy reform efforts, and a shared interest in promoting tourism.
