Karachi Kings kept their PSL 11 playoff hopes alive with a thrilling five-wicket victory over defending champions Lahore Qalandars at Gaddafi Stadium.
Chasing a strong target of 200 runs, Karachi Kings reached 200/5 with eight balls remaining, thanks to an unbeaten half-century from captain David Warner and a match-winning late blitz from Khushdil Shah.
Karachi’s chase started poorly when Jason Roy was dismissed for 9 in the second over with only 10 runs on the board. Warner then rebuilt the innings with partnerships alongside Reeza Hendricks (10) and Salman Ali Agha (14).
The momentum shifted when Warner and Moeen Ali added a quick 58-run stand. Moeen smashed 39 off just 17 balls, including four sixes and one four, before being dismissed by Ubaid Shah.
Karachi suffered another blow when Azam Khan fell for 14 off 8 balls, but Khushdil Shah then changed the game completely.
Batting at No. 7, Khushdil played a stunning unbeaten knock of 44 from only 14 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes. He attacked Shaheen Shah Afridi for 23 runs in the 18th over and then hit back-to-back sixes off Haris Rauf to seal victory in the 19th over.
Warner remained unbeaten on 63 from 44 balls, striking 10 boundaries and one six.
