Karakoram Highway’s Havelian-Thakot Earns Best Project Award
Karakoram Highway Phase-II – Havelian-Thakot Road – won the best Bridge/Tunnel Award at the ninth annual Engineering News-Record (ENR) Global Best Projects competition, according to published news.

According to the information provided, the aforementioned road is a key project conducted within the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The project received the award for its superior construction and design. According to Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong, CPEC features the world’s finest tunnels and bridges.
A 118-kilometer-long connectivity project, the Havelian-Thakot road provides information about the project. China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and National Highway Authority inked a commercial contract for this project in December 2015.

China Communications Construction Company Ltd conducted the project at a cost of USD 1,315 million. In addition, the connection project consists of 105 bridges, of which 3 are minor, 42 are medium, and 60 are huge. The project includes six tunnels: four on the Class-II highway and two on the motorway.
