KDA Warns of Cancellations for Non-Conforming Property
Asif Ali Memon, director general of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), has warned that the authority will cancel the allocation if residential apartments are used for commercial purposes.

After touring Mehran Town, where an illegally constructed factory on a residential plot caught fire and killed multiple people, he addressed the media.
He announced that any industries established on residential plots in Mehran Town would be given 15 days to restore the plots to their previous condition, failing which the administration would annul allocations and properties and initiate legal action under Section 15.

The judgment was taken after an illegally constructed factory on a residential property caught fire, killing numerous persons. In addition to lacking an emergency exit, the factory had not been certified by the building control authorities.
