PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Housing Authority Board has approved a wide-ranging package of housing sector measures covering government employee plots, commercial property leasing, compensation for affected families, infrastructure funding and the digitisation of plot management records.
The decisions cover several housing schemes across the province and are aimed at improving property management, addressing project-specific issues and establishing clearer administrative procedures within Housing Authority developments.
Residential Plots for Government Employees
The board approved the allocation of residential plots for government employees across various Housing Authority schemes. The specific schemes, eligibility criteria and allocation schedule are expected to be clarified through subsequent implementation details.
The board also approved an increase in plot sizes for the heirs of police martyrs in Hangu Township and Mega City Nowshera. Their allocation has been increased from three marlas to five marlas, providing additional residential space to eligible families.
Digital Plot Management System Approved
A major administrative component of the package is the decision to digitise the Housing Authority’s plot management system.
Moving plot records to a digital platform could make it easier to maintain and verify information related to allocations, ownership and plot status. It may also provide a more structured record of property transactions and reduce dependence on manual documentation.
The implementation timeline and technical details of the digital system have not yet been disclosed.
New Commercial Leasing Regulations
The board also approved the KP Housing Authority Commercial Property Leasing Regulations 2026.
The regulations are expected to establish a formal framework for leasing commercial properties located within Housing Authority schemes. Detailed provisions covering lease terms, procedures and other requirements have yet to be fully outlined.
Jalouzai and Hayatabad Measures
The board approved compensation for affectees of the Jalouzai Housing Scheme, addressing an issue involving people affected by the development.
It also approved revised policies and standard operating procedures for occupants of the Hayatabad High Rise Scheme, providing an updated administrative framework for the scheme.
In addition, infrastructure funding was approved for housing schemes, while the board separately approved the provision of gas for the Malazai Housing Scheme.
Broader Housing Sector Measures
The collection of decisions reflects the Housing Authority’s involvement in several areas, ranging from residential allocations and infrastructure development to commercial property management and digital record keeping.
