KP Orders Ban on Construction Activities in Makhnial Forests
Taking note of illegal construction activities in designated forests in the Makhnial area of Haripur district and the purchase and sale of forestland for commercial purposes, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has ordered officials to immediately ban all construction activities in the region.

The chief minister, who presided over a high-level meeting here on Monday, also ordered the imposition and strict enforcement of Section 144.
According to an official statement, the officers were instructed to take harsh action against those who breached Section 188 of the Pakistan Panel Code.
An official stated that “extremely prominent people” had purchased land in the Makhnial forests and acted in such a way as to prevent legal action against them.

The forum voted to prohibit land changes and registrations in Makhnial forest regions until classification and demarcation of these woods are complete.
In light of the potential hazards to the region’s forests and ecosystem, it was also agreed that all mining leases in the Makhnial and Khanpur regions would be canceled.
