KP Government Seeks RS 4.8 Billion TMAs for Waive Property Tax
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Local Government department has requested Rs 4,800,000,000 from the provincial government after advising Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMAs) to waive the property tax for the upcoming year.

According to sources, the provincial administration has recommended not collecting property tax next year and has solicited the local government’s position on the matter.
According to sources, Rs4 billion has been granted to TMAs as compensation for the non-collection of property tax this year, based on data received during the financial year 2019-20 (FY20), however the department has asked a 20% increase in the amount for the same purpose in 2022.

Local council board sources reported that the province government had promised TMAs a Rs4 billion subsidy in exchange for a 2% property tax exemption. However, the funds were sent to the local government department with some delay, causing the TMAs to experience financial difficulties.
Due to the delay in the transfer of cash, TMAs were unable to pay employee salaries, according to officials.
