KP Government to Specify Part of Uplift Schemes for Plantation
Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government has agreed to allocate a share of all provincial development projects to plantation and horticulture.

The department of planning and development issued a notification stating that the executing agency must spend funds at an early stage to ensure that horticultural work is finished within the project’s timeline.
It added that horticulture work would be performed in such a way that the same would not be damaged during the project’s execution phase, and that the plantation would be resistant to seasonal changes and environmentally friendly so that the sustainability features of the same would be preserved in the public’s best interest.

The previous government (2013-2018) established the Billion Tree Tsunami Afforestation Programme, which was praised internationally for enhancing the province’s green cover.
During its mandate, the present federal government has duplicated the 10 Billion Tree Tsunmi Afforestation Programme across the entire nation.
