The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced its financing plan for the proposed Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan Motorway, a major 360-kilometre infrastructure project aimed at strengthening connectivity across the province.
According to KP Finance Adviser Muzzammil Aslam, the motorway will be funded primarily through provincial budgetary resources, supported by fiscal discipline and improved financial management practices.
He said the government has completed the preliminary groundwork for the project and is preparing to allocate funds in phases. The initial funding requirement is estimated to range between PKR 200 billion and PKR 250 billion.
Aslam emphasized that the financing model is based on internal resource generation, reflecting the provincial government’s strategy to reduce dependence on external borrowing for large-scale development projects.
The proposed motorway is expected to serve as a vital transportation corridor, improving links between the northern and southern regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and facilitating economic activity across the province.
Officials stated that the project will be executed in multiple phases under a structured development framework, with significant portions of the construction expected to be financed directly through provincial resources.
The government also signaled its intention to pursue additional large-scale infrastructure projects in the coming months as part of its broader development and connectivity agenda.
