LDA Regularize Commercial Property Under New Amnesty Scheme

Lahore: According to press reports, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) plans to use the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) to introduce a new amnesty programme for the regularization of erroneous commercial buildings.

According to reports, the scheme’s main goal is to combat the expanding encroachment problem. In order to address challenges caused by growing population, sewerage issues, and traffic issues, the initiative has recruited the services of a consultant to survey commercial use of 18 frozen roads.

Khayaban-e-Jinnah, Khayaban-e-Firdousi, a detour to Raiwind, Defence Road, and the section of Faisal Town leading to Akbar Chowk are among these frozen zones. The short-term consulting project has reportedly been given to National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) for PKR 2.9 million, per the sources.

The consulting company will be in charge of conducting surveys of the built-in structures, the capacity of the sewerage system, the annual commercial potential, and traffic counts. A similar plan had previously been proposed by the LDA to regularize a number of residential schemes that had been built without the necessary documentation and regulatory authority’s NOC.
