LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has restarted improvement work on nine underpasses along Canal Bank Road. The work covers the route from Thokar Niaz Baig to Mall Road.
The current programme includes several repair activities. These include asphalt laying, road repairs and new signage. Restoration work is also being carried out at the affected underpasses.
The latest work comes around three years after a major renovation project. The earlier project cost about Rs. 300 million. It covered the same nine underpasses along Canal Bank Road.
The renewed work will address the current condition of the road infrastructure. Officials are focusing on road surfaces and other areas that require repair. Signage improvements are also part of the programme.
The nine underpasses serve important routes across Lahore. They include Doctor’s Hospital, Jinnah Hospital and Punjab University. Muslim Town, Ferozepur Road and FC College are also included. The remaining locations are Jail Road, Mall Road and Dharampura.
Canal Bank Road is an important route for daily traffic in Lahore. The underpasses help vehicles move between major areas along the corridor. Their condition can therefore affect traffic movement and road access.
The LDA is carrying out the work as part of its ongoing infrastructure improvement efforts. The authority has not disclosed a separate budget or completion date for the current programme.
