In a major move, the Punjab government revealed an effective electricity bill relief package for domestic users facilitated by Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO).

The relief, totaling Rs. 15 billion, will be distributed over the next two months, profiting 37 million electricity consumers.

Starting in August, 1.925 million users will receive Rs. 8 billion in relief. In September, an additional Rs. 7.2 billion will be delivered to 1.75 million consumers.

LESCO plans to reduce bills by Rs. 575 million in August and Rs. 520 million in September. This lowering will cover 57.75 million units in August and 52 million units in September.

The relief package is aimed at households using between 201 and 500 units of electricity per month, affecting about 1.9 million LESCO customers. It is important to note that this relief is only for domestic consumers and will not apply to commercial, industrial, or tubewell users.
