Load Shedding Disrupts Telecom Sector as Ufone Reports Nationwide Service Issues

Ufone users across Pakistan may experience service disruptions as prolonged electricity load-shedding continues to impact telecom infrastructure nationwide.

In an official statement, Ufone said extended and frequent power outages—some lasting eight hours or more in different areas—are severely affecting its ability to maintain stable mobile services.

The company explained that most telecom sites depend on backup battery systems to keep networks running during electricity failures. However, these batteries require around three to four hours of uninterrupted power to fully recharge, which is becoming difficult due to repeated outages.

Ufone further stated that the ongoing load-shedding cycle is preventing batteries from completing full charging sessions, reducing backup capacity and causing service instability in several regions across the country.

The operator added that normal service levels are expected to resume once electricity supply stabilizes and load-shedding pressures ease.
