Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has officially revived the long-stalled M-12 Motorway project, elevating it to a priority initiative aimed at boosting connectivity and driving economic growth across the region.
The motorway will link Sambrial with Kharian, and development is now moving ahead through coordinated efforts between the Public Private Partnership Authority (PPPA), National Highway Authority (NHA), and the Ministry of Communications.
According to an official update shared on X (formerly Twitter), the planned six-lane motorway will become a key component of Pakistan’s broader North-South Motorway Network.
For context, the route will connect Sambrial—currently the endpoint of the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway—with Kharian, improving mobility for daily commuters as well as commercial transport.
Once completed, the M-12 Motorway is expected to significantly reduce travel times, enhance logistics efficiency, and strengthen trade and industrial linkages in the area. Officials also note that the project will better connect industrial zones with major population centers, potentially supporting local businesses and accelerating economic activity.
