MCL Strive for Control of Lahore Division Areas From LDA
Lahore: The Metropolitan Corporation of Lahore (MCL) has asked the Local Government and Community Development Department (LGCDD) for assistance in regaining its building and land use restricted territory from the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) in light of amendments to the LDA Act, 1975.

Previously, in 2013, the amended 1975 LDA Act expanded the metropolitan region of Lahore to encompass the whole Lahore division and handed the LDA land-use control over private housing developments.
Now, the MCL says, swift amendments to the LDA Act of 1975 have restored the LDA’s jurisdiction to levels comparable to those before to 2013.

By including the MCL area in the above-mentioned letter dated April 23, 2021, the MCL will be able to perform the land-use conversion (commercialization) functions that it performed prior to the amendment of the LDA Act 1975 in 2013 and the transfer of functions to the LDA via the above-mentioned letter dated November 26, 2013.
