Millions Reach Makkah for Huge Hajj in Saudi Heat
The largest in years, about 2 million people are anticipated to participate in the Hajj pilgrimage. It’s also the first after the coronavirus pandemic to occur without limits.

Nearly 2.5 million people participated in the pilgrimage in 2019. This amount was reduced by COVID-19 restrictions to about 10,000 in 2020, 60,000 in 2021, and 926,000 in 2022.
Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, the minister of Hajj and Umrah, stated in a video issued by the ministry earlier this week, “As the Hajj approaches, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia prepares… for the largest Islamic gathering in history.
Before the Hajj begins on Monday, more pilgrims are anticipated to arrive.
This year’s rites will be attended by 2 million people from more than 160 nations, according to Rabiah.
As they arrived on trains, buses, and aeroplanes on Friday, pilgrims wearing white robes and sandals could be seen all throughout the sacred city.
