Ministry Concedes Two Projects of FDE
Islamabad: The Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP) of the federal education ministry talked about building a women’s college in Nilore and upgrading 23 schools that are part of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).

However, the DDWP delayed both projects until its subsequent meeting due to technical issues. FDE representatives provided an overview of the projects to the meeting under the chairmanship of Federal Education Secretary Farah Hamid Khan.
The FDE had developed PC-1 worth Rs1.2 billion to upgrade 23 schools throughout Islamabad, according to information provided to the meeting. Local MNAs had been pressuring the FDE to upgrade the schools.
Using the existing property (64 kanals) of a boys secondary school, the FDE prepared the PC-I worth Rs600 million in conjunction with PWD for the building of the college from Grade XI to the master level.

The fate of other federal government schools, on the other hand, is reportedly in limbo because monies set aside for their reconstruction are expected to expire in June.
Interestingly, the government has allocated Rs640 million this fiscal year, out of a total budget of Rs1100 million, for the restoration of more than 200 schools, a project it inherited from the previous PML-N administration. Construction is still not finished in 23 schools.
