NAB Assisted Acquire Land for LDA City Project
Lahore: According to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the LDA City project needed thousands of acres of land, which the NAB helped obtain.

The NAB reported that in 2019, the Supreme Court established a committee for prompt resolution of the issue, which included NAB and LDA as members and was presided over by province minister for housing Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed.
“NAB Lahore’s recommendations along with enforcement helped in providing 25,500 Kanal land (approximately) to LDA from which 11,300 plots were handed over to the general public through balloting,” the statement read. It also noted that the bureau had assisted more than 60,000 people who had been impacted by the housing market both directly and indirectly since 2017.

According to the report, the LDA decided in 2013 to acquire 45,000 kanals of land for the LDA City Project through five private development partners (land providers) within a year. The authority announced that 30% of the land would be in the form of developed plots, but the development partners failed to do so until 2018 and also sold out the 10,000 entitled plot files to the general public.
