The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new automated system to improve public access to identity card services, allowing citizens to complete applications through self-service kiosks.
The facility has been launched at the NADRA Mega Centre in Lahore, where 22 counters have been allocated for the newly introduced system. The initiative is aimed at making the application process faster, smoother, and more convenient for visitors.
According to centre in-charge Adeel Wajahat Hussain, the self-service model has been designed to streamline operations and reduce waiting times for citizens seeking identity-related services.
Under the new system, visitors can independently apply for new identity cards, renew existing CNICs, and request smart cards without requiring direct staff assistance.
Officials said the technology-driven setup is expected to improve efficiency and enhance overall service delivery. Hussain added that more than 1,800 people visit the centre daily, highlighting the growing need for faster processing and modernized services.
To help visitors use the new system, guidance boards have been installed outside the facility to assist citizens in navigating the kiosks and completing their applications.
Authorities said the initiative is part of NADRA’s broader efforts to modernize public services and provide quicker, more accessible facilities across the country.
