Plot Allotment Instead of Payments for New Balakot City

According to a recent media report, the earthquake victims of Mansehra have rejected the government’s offer of payment for plots in the New Balakot City housing project and have instead demanded an early plot allocation in the same project.

Tahir Khan, the president of the organization representing the affected individuals, stated that the survivors of the earthquake preferred plots to cash, per the Supreme Court’s (SC) order.

Muhammad Maroof, a representative of the Red Zone Dwellers Association, revealed that in January 2019, the Supreme Court (SC) requested the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and federal governments to establish New Balakot City within one and a half years and assign plots to families as soon as possible.

In addition, former Senator Abdul Qayyum Awan stated that he would bring up the matter of early plot allocation with the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority.
