ISLAMABAD: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has reviewed progress on several major motorway and highway projects across Pakistan. The review highlighted three projects that are approaching completion and are expected to be inaugurated in the coming months.
The projects nearing inauguration include the Lodhran–Multan Expressway, Peshawar Northern Bypass and Pindi Bhattian–Faisalabad Motorway expansion. Officials also reviewed progress on the Sialkot–Kharian Motorway, where construction work is advancing.
Work has also started on the Karachi–Quetta–Chaman N-25 Expressway. The project is expected to strengthen road connectivity between Sindh and Balochistan and improve movement along the major regional corridor.
The NHA review also covered road development requirements in Balochistan. The federal government has decided to seek Rs108 billion in funding for various projects in the province. The requested funds are aimed at supporting road infrastructure and improving connectivity across key areas.
The three projects nearing inauguration are at different locations and serve different transport needs. The Lodhran–Multan route will improve connectivity in southern Punjab, while the Peshawar Northern Bypass is expected to support traffic movement around Peshawar. The Pindi Bhattian–Faisalabad expansion will further improve the motorway network in Punjab.
However, the review does not provide specific inauguration dates for the three projects. Their opening schedules will depend on the completion of remaining work and official announcements.
The progress is also relevant for businesses and property activity along these corridors. Improved road access can support logistics, commercial activity and regional connectivity. However, the impact on individual property locations will depend on their distance from interchanges, access roads and other supporting infrastructure.
