NHA Set to Utilize GIS to Monitor 13000-km Long Road Network
The National Highway Administration is prepared to use its newly developed Geographical Information System (GIS) for encroachment removal, income enhancement, and project planning.

According to General Manager RAMD Naseem Khattak, the NHA has entirely digitized the about 13,000-kilometer-long national highways, motorways, and important roads using the GIS system. According to him, the GIS provides an inventory and spatial data for all assets, Right of Way (ROW) boundaries, and roadside land and amenities.
In addition to supporting cross-border transit trade traffic, NHA provides critical communication links between major urban centers, industrial zones, and commercial hubs.
GIS is an advanced and potent tool for managing and integrating the diverse types of data required for the planning, design, building, analysis, operation, maintenance, and administration of transportation systems and facilities.

NHA has been able to locate around ninety thousand commercial amenities along its ROW borders thanks to GIS. NHA has commenced the process of notifying designated commercial amenities to acquire NOC. In accordance with the Pakistani government’s objective, the process will eventually result in a considerable increase in revenue and lead to the authority’s self-sufficiency.
