No Progress on Probe into RRR Project Scam
The investigation into the Rawalpindi Ring Road project scandal has slowed considerably since no steps have been taken to look into the suspected participation of governing party officials, opposition leaders, or housing associations.

The scam became known before Eid al-Fitr. Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, left his job as the scandal grew.
Ghulam Sarwar, the aviation minister, refuted claims that he had helped a private housing association. If the accusations were found to be true, he further stated that he would leave politics.
The Punjabi government said that an inquiry will be launched and tasked the Anti-Corruption Establishment with carrying it out. Also announcing its intention to launch a probe is the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Officials claim that the commissioner of Rawalpindi produced the report and did not adhere to the inquiry’s terms of reference (TORs). On the basis of the three TORs, the committee was tasked with responding to nine questions and finishing the report.
According to sources, the committee was technically incomplete from the start, and after the deputy commissioner was transferred, the Services and General Administration department was supposed to reconstitute the committee and require it to submit a report in accordance with the government’s mandates.
