Number of Ehsaas Receivers to Be Extended to 8 MN Next Month
Islamabad: The Pakistani government has decided to launch the second phase of Ehsaas Emergency Cash (EEC) to ease the impact of the coronavirus lockdown on low-income segments of society, according to news sources.

Under the second phase of the ECC, the government reportedly plans to expand the number of beneficiaries to 8 million by June.
Responsibility for identification and disbursement of grants is given to the Benazir Income Assistance Program (BISP).

According to sources, BISP has identified up to 17 million eligible families across five categories, including existing beneficiaries of the Ehsaas Kafaalat initiative. The ECC’s second phase has been launched due to general economic hardships mobilized by the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

A formal proposal is then prepared and submitted to the ECC and Cabinet.
