Over Rs 1 Billion Ratified for Roads Maintenance
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Council has approved the Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority’s (PKHA) annual maintenance plan for 2021-22.

According to a statement released here, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan presided over the council meeting and directed PKHA officials to submit a detailed report on funds allocated to the organisation and maintenance work performed over the past year.
The provincial government would contribute Rs 1.2 billion to the Rs 1.672 billion maintenance plan, while PKHA would contribute Rs 472 million from its own resources. The funds would be used to ensure proper maintenance of 3,000 kilometres of provincial roads and highways, as well as rehabilitation of flood-damaged roads, construction of new toll plazas, and other operational tasks.

The council also approved the provincialization of four roads, including the 35-kilometer Sheringal-Patrak, 126-kilometer Topi-Buner, 85-kilometer Thakot-Darband, and 61-kilometer Bannu-Miranshah roads, to improve their management and maintenance.
The chief minister instructed the appropriate officials to ensure progress on the new road projects and timely completion of ongoing projects.
