Pakistan-Russia to Build 1,100-Km Gas Pipeline for $2.5 Billion
Pakistan and Russia have agreed to construct a 1,100-kilometer-long gas pipeline from Karachi to Lahore at an estimated cost of $2.5 billion and completion date of 2023.

Secretary of Petroleum Arshad Mahmood and the Director of the Russian Ministry of Energy signed an agreement for the Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline Project during a ceremony. Energy Minister Hammad Azhar and representatives from the Russian Ministry of Energy also attended the ceremony.
According to Hammad Azhar, the gas pipeline project has been delayed since 2015, and the two nations have inked an agreement for technical collaboration. Costing $2.5 billion, the project will be completed by 2023.

Azhar continued by stating that the north-south gas pipeline project was vital and that local enterprises will complete the laying of the pipeline using Russian-imported materials. In addition, he stated that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will finalize the tariff for the gas pipeline that will transport gas from the north to the south of the country.
