Three individuals have reportedly been arrested by Pakistan’s security agencies during an intelligence-based operation on allegations of spying for India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), according to sources.
The suspects are said to be residents of Narowal, Bahawalpur, and Neelum district in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources claim the accused were recruited through social media, where they were allegedly offered money and romantic relationships in exchange for sharing sensitive information. Payments were reportedly made via Easypaisa, cryptocurrency wallets, and bank accounts.
During interrogation, the individuals allegedly admitted to being in contact with handlers through social media, including women believed to be linked to RAW.
Cases were reportedly registered against the suspects under the Official Secrets Act, and following legal proceedings, courts have handed down sentences.
Security analysts, as quoted in the report, stated that foreign intelligence agencies may use financial incentives and honey-trap tactics to target individuals online, and advised the public to exercise caution when using social media platforms.
