Pakistan Making Noteworthy Steps for Clean Energy Under CPEC
Islamabad: China Natural Resources Association (CSNR) Secretary General Shen Lei said climate change in Pakistan could be mitigated through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), according to news sources.

Shen Lei emphasized that under CPEC, Pakistan can easily achieve this goal through technical, investment and equipment support while enhancing economic cooperation with China.
She added that while Pakistan is rich in clean energy resources, it has a low level of development, leading to an imbalance between supply and demand.
The World Bank believes Pakistan needs to add her 24,000 megawatts of wind and solar power over the next decade. This includes 6,700 megawatts of wind power and 17,500 megawatts of solar power. This will save $1 billion in annual power generation costs.

Shen said Pakistan’s adoption of clean energy solutions will also improve the ecological environment, create opportunities for economic growth and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
