Pakistan Ranks 10th Among Biggest Importers of Major Arms in Asia
Pakistan is one of the top importers of large armaments in Asia and Oceania for the years 2016 to 20 according to the most recent data on international arms transfers published on Monday by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
According to the report, Pakistan was also among the countries that purchased the most Chinese weapons. China had a 7.8% decline in exports between 2011–15 and 2016–20, ranking as the fifth-largest supplier of weaponry worldwide. China accounted for 5.2 percent of all exports of weapons between 2016 and 20.

Asia and Oceania received 42% of all global weaponry transfers from 2016 to 20. The top importers in the area were Pakistan, South Korea, China, Australia, and India.
Pieter D. Wezeman, Senior Researcher with the SIPRI Arms and Military Expenditure Program, stated that it is too soon to determine whether the past two decades of rapid growth in weapons transfers are over.
