Pakistan Ranks Top in Asia in Terms of Infrastructure Development
Pakistan has moved up one spot to fifth place in infrastructural development, defying the regional trend of decline, despite the sudden shock of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the annual report on the Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index (2021), the report covered 71 nations, including eight Portuguese-speaking nations and 63 Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) nations. Among the Seven Regions, Southeast Asia came in first, with Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines taking the top four positions.
The Central and Eastern European region came in last place, same as the year before.

South Asia was the only region to witness a major decline, sliding from third to sixth place in the index as a result of a serious setback to infrastructure development caused by the widespread spread of the coronavirus in India, according to China Economic Net (CEN).
