Pakistan Received $3.1 Billion Covid Assistance
Islamabad: Of the $3.7 billion pledged by international creditors and other nations to Pakistan for minimizing the socio-economic and health effects of the Covid-19 outbreak, $3.1 billion has been received so far.

The minister provided this information in response to questions from Senator Kamran Murtaza, who had requested information on the total amount of grants and loans the government had received from other countries in order to combat COVID-19, as well as the breakdown of those grants and loans by province.
Omar said that his ministry does not really receive or distribute help to provinces or other entities; rather, it channels it directly to the beneficiaries and simply negotiates and organizes finance on behalf of other ministries, divisions, departments, and provincial governments.

He added that the ADB committed $7.78 but only provided $0.50 million, while China, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea, and the United Nations, respectively, committed $4 million, $3.38 million, $2 million, $0.85 million, and $0.40 million and distributed the entire sum to the recipients in question.
