Pakistan Suffers Blow as WB Discontinues EODB Reports
Islamabad is dissatisfied with the World Bank’s (WB) decision to suspend the study due to data problems. Pakistan anticipated a significant increase in the ease of doing business (EODB) index this year by leaping from 108th to 75th place in the upcoming report.

Officials assert that the country has taken every measure to overhaul business-friendly government institutions in order to increase its ranking.
Investigations were conducted to determine how improper changes were made to the data for China, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Azerbaijan; who at the bank directed, implemented, or knew about the data changes; how their direction or pressure manifested; and what internal circumstances, whether related to policies, personnel, or culture, permitted the changes to occur.

Similarly, Pakistan has joined the ranks of fewer than ten global jurisdictions that provide a single certification system. On the SECP portal, the single certificate can be applied for. Through the deployment of the Geographical Inspection System and the digitization of land records, on-site inspections are rendered obsolete.
