Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat, but they had trouble against Pakistan’s spinners. Salman Ali Agha contributed 3-26, but Abrar Ahmed was the standout player with the ball, taking 4-33.
Dion Myers led the way with 33 runs, but none of the Zimbabwean batters were able to construct a meaningful innings, even though six of them reached double figures. Zimbabwe was consequently knocked out for a disappointing 145 in 32.3 overs.
Pakistan’s openers responded by making the chase easy. With 113 off just 53 balls, 22-year-old Saim Ayub struck an outstanding first ODI century. He hit Zimbabwe’s bowling assault all over the park with his forceful, boundary-filled knock. Abdullah Shafique, who is still undefeated at 32, played a consistent supporting role.
Pakistan’s humiliating defeat in the first ODI stood in sharp contrast to the overwhelming performance. With the momentum now firmly in Pakistan’s favor, the sides will now enter Thursday’s series decider.
