Pakistan’s Kinnow Industry Has to Earn Huge Foreign Exchange
According to Gwadar Pro, Pakistan’s kinnow industry got a breakthrough last week when Iran lifted import restrictions on Pakistani kinnow.

Pakistan is one of the world’s leading citrus producers. Citrus fruits account for about 30% of the country’s total fruit production.
According to a report on Pakistan’s citrus industry published by the China-Pakistan Agriculture and Industry Cooperation Information Platform, Pakistan received the highest export earnings from kinnow last year, totaling plus $222 million and 370,000 tons (CPAIC).
The majority of citrus produced in Pakistan is consumed in foreign markets, according to the report. Kinnow is the most important of the export varieties. On the other hand, Kinnow’s consistency deteriorates as older varieties become obsolete.

There hasn’t been a major breakthrough in herbaceous varieties for many years. Only 2.6% of exports go to developing countries, as buyers in these markets prefer seedless citrus. This model is gradually spreading to other regions around the globe.
