Parliamentary Body Urges for Timely Colonization of SEZs
According to press sources, the Parliamentary Committee on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), led by Sher Ali Arbab, has declared that Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are of limited value without timely colonization and the establishment of industries.

The chairman of the committee made these remarks while evaluating the progress of industry establishment in SEZs around the nation. Members of the committee urged the government and other relevant parties to implement measures that would enable and protect investment in SEZs, including the provision of security for businesses and foreign investors.
Clearance and No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) provided to industrialists for the establishment of industrial units were also reported to the committee.

Members and secretaries from various government entities, including the ministers of planning and railways, briefed the meeting on the current status of security measures for projects under the CPEC framework, the Mainline-1 (ML-1) project with a special focus on the Electric Traction (ET) component, and the most recent developments regarding special economic zones.
In addition to focusing on industrial and agricultural projects, the committee suggested that Pakistan should also prioritize the expansion of its tourism industry under the CPEC framework.
