Defence Chowk Project PC-1 for Remodeling Kutchery Chowk
According to published reports, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has produced PC-1 for the Kutchery Chowk and Defence Chowk underpass renovation project.
According to the specifics, the RDA has recommended that the Punjab government initiate the Kutchery and Defence Chowk underpass project, as the Ammar Chowk project would be completed on December 20 at a total cost of PKR 1,307 billion.
The design calls for the construction of an underpass connecting The Mall and Airport Road to The Mall and Jhelum Road. According to reports, this initiative will eliminate traffic signals at underpasses. The two-lane underpass is intended for traffic from Rawat to Saddar and Airport to Saddar.
A top RDA official (whose name was withheld) said that Kutchery Chowk should be remodeled with funds originally set up for the Defence Chowk project. The official warned that if work on both projects begins immediately, it will result in traffic congestion for local people.

RDA has requested that PKR 1.8 billion be released for the project so that construction can commence early next year. Sharing information regarding PC-1 of the project, the Punjab government has referred PC-1 to the Communication and Works Department, followed by Planning and Development Board for final clearance.
