PCB Offered 25 Acres Near Islamabad’s D-12 for Cricket Stadium
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has made the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) an offer to donate 25 acres near D-12 for the construction of a cricket stadium in Islamabad. The CDA approached the PCB with this suggestion.
“I told PCB representatives I spoke with a few days ago that CDA has set aside 25 acres for the project.” “CDA and PCB will hold a meeting on it next week,” CDA Chairman Noor ul Amin Mengal said to Dawn on Sunday. According to him, the 150 acres owned by the CDA along D-12 and Shah Allah Ditta will be utilised to encourage sports.

The cricket stadium in the Margallas foothills will enhance Islamabad’s appeal, he added. “Out of the total, 25 acres will be given to the PCB for the cricket stadium, and we will develop other sports facilities on the remaining land,” he said. At the facility, there will also be international cricket matches.
The Supreme Court halted the construction of a stadium in Shakarparian in 2018. In response to worries that environmental protests would occur because the location is in Zone III, the CDA chairman said that he had been told that the property was outside of Zone III.

He cited the sports complex next to Aabpara, which is likewise categorised as Zone III, in saying that the civic organisation could use it for sports facilities even if it is in Zone III.
There is no reason why Zone III cannot include sporting and leisure amenities; in fact, the Margalla Hills offer trekking routes. But I’ll give it another look,” he remarked.
