PM AJK Ordered to Formulate Strategy for Industrial Growth
According to the most recent reports, Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), advised participants at a review meeting of the AJK industries department to develop a new comprehensive strategy to promote industrialization. He emphasized the government’s commitment to the expansion of the industry in order to create employment opportunities.

During a cabinet meeting, the AJK prime minister approved four development projects, the most significant of which was the establishment of a special economic zone (SEZ) in Mirpur at a cost of PKR 2.24 billion. In addition, he instructed cabinet members to develop viable strategies for industrializing the six industrial estates and the next special economic zone.

Moreover, he emphasized that the government’s tax exemption policy must be promoted in order to attract more investment in the region. Along with the directions for industrial strategy, the cabinet evaluated the previous six months’ progress and allocated the following funds:

- 65 million Pakistani rupees towards the eradication of child labor
- 25 million Pakistani rupees for the promotion and growth of small companies
- PKR 125 million for industrial estate development at Kotli, Rawalakot, Dadyal, Bhimber, and Muzaffarabad.
- With the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund, Muzaffarabad and Mirpur will spend PKR 65 million on child labor surveys (UNICEF)
