PM’s Green Stimulus Initiative Gets $120 Million from World Bank
Mr. Najy Benhassine, Country Director for Pakistan at the World Bank, informed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Special Assistant on Climate Change that the Bank will provide full financial and technical support to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s various green initiatives, especially the Green Stimulus initiative, for environmental conservation and security, as well as enhanced disaster resilience.

In the meantime, both parties vowed to work together to combat the detrimental impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic’s worldwide health catastrophe and global warming on numerous socioeconomic sectors.
During the meeting at the climate change ministry, the country director, Najy Benhassine, informed the PM’s aide that the $120 million pledged for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Green Stimulus initiative has been approved and can be used to increase green employment for those who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 crisis.

He also noted that the World Bank’s management is highly impressed with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision for a Clean Green Pakistan and the various green projects that have been launched as a result of this vision, including one of the world’s most ambitious 10 Billion Tree Tsunami Programs (TBTTP).
