One of the standout young talents from the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11), Sameer Minhas, is already looking ahead to the next phase of his development. The promising batter plans to shift his focus to red-ball cricket after the tournament to further refine his skills.
The Pakistan Under-19 star is likely to represent JDW Sugar Mills in the upcoming President’s Trophy Grade-II, a three-day competition that will mark his entry into senior red-ball cricket. He is also expected to make his first-class debut for Pakistan Television in the next domestic season, with the department—champions of the 2024 President’s Trophy—reportedly including him in their long-term plans for the longer format. Notably, his elder brother, Arafat Minhas, is already part of that setup.
Sameer has drawn attention for his blend of solid technique and aggressive strokeplay, making him one of the most exciting emerging batters in Pakistan. His talent was evident during PSL 2026, where he emerged as one of the top-performing uncapped players.
Even before the PSL, Sameer had built a strong reputation through age-group cricket. He gained prominence with a match-winning 172 off 113 balls against India in the Under-19 Asia Cup final and ended the tournament as its leading run-scorer, amassing 471 runs in just five matches.
He continued his impressive run by finishing as Pakistan’s highest run-scorer in the Under-19 World Cup and setting a record for the fastest century in youth ODIs, reaching the milestone in just 42 balls against Zimbabwe.
His rapid rise made him one of the most sought-after young players in the PSL auction, where he fetched Rs. 19 million—the highest price ever paid for an uncapped Under-23 player.
Backing up the hype, Sameer delivered a superb PSL campaign, scoring 343 runs in 10 innings at an average of 42.87 and an impressive strike rate of 155.90. He registered three half-centuries and set a new record for the most runs by a teenager in a single PSL season.
