Punjab Approves Eight Road Projects Worth Nearly Rs. 1 Billion

SARGODHA: The Punjab government has approved eight road development schemes in Sargodha district aimed at improving road conditions, rehabilitation of existing infrastructure and strengthening connectivity across key areas.

The projects have been approved under the Own Source Revenue initiative and carry a combined estimated cost of nearly Rs. 1 billion.

Among the approved schemes are construction and rehabilitation works on Dairy Road, Azad Road, New Urdu Bazaar Road, Grain Market Road, Pilot School Road and Ara Market Road, with these works estimated at Rs. 175.79 million.

The development package also includes the rehabilitation of the Khayam Chowk Overhead Bridge, allocated approximately Rs. 88.98 million, along with improvements to the route connecting Johar Colony Road with Fatima Jinnah Road through Gillwala Railway Crossing and Haripurah Bridge, costing around Rs. 228.67 million.

Another allocation of Rs. 164.65 million has been approved for the Shama Chowk–Stadium Gate road and the link road leading to Cheema Heart Centre. The package further covers Main Bazaar Bhagtanwala Road and the Lahore Road–Bhirowal–Kot Momin Link Road, with an estimated cost of Rs. 127.72 million.

In Shahpur, the government has approved rehabilitation of Jail Road to Shahpur Saddar Road at an estimated cost of Rs. 98.89 million, while the Farooka Road–Sial Dhulaka Road project has been allocated approximately Rs. 56.68 million.

The programme also includes a Rs. 60 million beautification initiative for interchanges along Sial Mor Road.

The road development package is expected to improve local connectivity, support smoother traffic movement and upgrade important transportation links across Sargodha district.
