Punjab Approves Funding for One Flyover and Six Underpasses

The Punjab government has allocated funds for the construction of one flyover and six underpasses in Rawalpindi and Gujar Khan under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2026-27, aiming to improve traffic flow and strengthen the region’s road infrastructure.

According to the development budget, Rs. 100 million has been allocated for the Rs. 3 billion Ammar Chowk Flyover, a key component of the Mall Signal-Free Project in Rawalpindi.

The government has also earmarked Rs. 200 million for the construction of the Race Course and Army Graveyard underpasses to reduce traffic congestion on major routes.

In addition, Rs. 93 million has been allocated for the Rs. 2.691 billion Tulsa Chowk Underpass, while another Rs. 100 million has been set aside for the Rs. 3.75 billion COD Underpass.

In Gujar Khan, the provincial government has allocated Rs. 100 million for the construction of two underpasses at Galiana Mor and Technical College Chowk. The combined estimated cost of these projects is Rs. 4.531 billion.

The allocations are part of the Punjab government’s broader strategy to ease traffic congestion, improve road connectivity, and modernize transport infrastructure across Rawalpindi and surrounding areas.
