Punjab CM Initiates e-Abiana System for Tax Collection
The e-Abiana system, a digital platform for collecting water to aid farmers, was launched by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, ending the century-old water payment collection system.

The e-Abiana (water tax) billing system was officially inaugurated at 90 Shahrea Quaid-e-Azam with Usman Buzdar, the chief minister of Punjab, in attendance. As the e-Abiana billing system went into effect, he claimed that the century-old practise of collecting water taxes was no longer in use.
He explained that the province-wide rollout of the e-Abiana system would begin with the Canal Divisions of Khanwa, Layyah, Kasur, and Sheikhupura. Under the new plan, computerized water cess bills will be issued to farmers, ending farmer fraud and corruption.

It is significant to emphasize that the new method would guarantee prompt water payments in addition to providing funding for the upkeep of the canal system.
