LAHORE: The Punjab government has launched a new digital facility that allows citizens to access and download registered land documents online, reducing the need to visit government record rooms for registry-related services.
The Record of Documents (ROD) Portal has been introduced by the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) in collaboration with the Board of Revenue as part of ongoing efforts to modernise land administration and improve access to official property records.
Under the new system, registered documents maintained by Deputy Commissioner Registrars across Punjab have been digitised and made accessible through the online platform. Citizens can search for available records and obtain digital copies through the portal.
The initiative is expected to make the process of accessing registry documents more convenient, particularly for people who previously had to travel to government offices and record rooms to obtain copies of their property documents.
The digitisation of records is also aimed at improving transparency, efficiency and accessibility in land administration. Providing citizens with direct online access to official documents could reduce paperwork and limit the need for repeated visits or reliance on intermediaries.
The ROD Portal forms part of Punjab’s broader push toward digital public services, with technology increasingly being used to simplify government procedures and make official records available remotely.
Citizens can use the ROD Portal to search for registered documents available in the system and download relevant records according to the portal’s procedures and eligibility requirements.
The launch marks another step toward a more technology-driven land record system in Punjab, potentially making registry information easier to access while reducing the administrative burden associated with traditional record-room services.
