Punjab Government Yet to Approve Ring Road Project PC-1
Since two months ago, the Punjab government has not authorized the project concept (PC) 1 for the Rawalpindi Ring Road project. On June 29, the Rawalpindi administration forwarded the PC-1 for the new Ring Road project to the Punjab government for final clearance.

Due to this, the already-delayed project has reached a standstill. August was the deadline for initiating work on the project.
After the corruption issue came to light, a senior official from the Ring Road Project Management Unit (PMU) informed the officials that the Punjab government had ordered all agencies involved, including the Rawalpindi Development Authority, to cease construction on the project.
However, the incumbent Rawalpindi Commissioner Gulzar Hussain Shah recommended the construction of a new Ring Road along the route approved by the previous administration.

The PMU produced PC 1 and offered it to the government for approval on June 29. Under PC-1, a 38-kilometer-long new Ring Road will be constructed from Rawat GT Road Banth Morr to the highway.
The official stated that the Rawalpindi administration thought the Punjab government would approve the PC 1 within two weeks, and that work would begin on the project in August.
