The Punjab Education Management Authority (PIMA) has initiated a province-wide physical verification campaign in schools to eliminate fake or inflated student enrollments and ensure the accuracy of official records.
According to officials, the verification drive will be conducted from May 4 to May 21, during which students’ physical presence will be checked at each school. The purpose is to identify and remove fictitious or paper-based enrollments and confirm the actual number of enrolled students.
PIMA has made it mandatory to carry out student verification twice a year—once in May and again in October. The process will be aligned with data from the School Information System to detect discrepancies between recorded and actual enrollment figures.
Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) and District Education Officers (DEOs) have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the verification exercise across Punjab.
After completion of the drive, detailed reports will be submitted to the education department. Authorities have also warned that strict disciplinary action will be taken against schools found involved in fake enrollments, describing the initiative as part of broader efforts to improve transparency and accountability in the education system.
