Punjab: Making Lahore’s Maulana Shaukat Ali Road Signal Free
According to news sources, the government has planned to make Maulana Shaukat Ali Road signal-free, which will connect the Orange Line Metro Train (Multan Road) to the Green Line Metro Bus (Ferozepur Road) in Lahore.

The 7 billion PKR project would construct a 15-kilometer-long artery to shorten the current 45-minute travel time between Kharak Stop and Qainchi. The Lahore Development Authority’s (LDA) project will shorten travel time to 15 minutes. Additionally, the ecosystem in the surrounding areas will be improved.
The Maulana Shaukat Ali Road begins from Kharak Stop on the Sabzazar Orange Line and continues to Allama Iqbal Town via the Karim Block signal, Wahdat Road, and Canal Road en route. The route continues towards Jinnah Hospital before linking to Ferozepur Road via Shauq Chowk, Akbar Chowk, the intersection of Model Town Link, Pindi Stop, and Kot Lakhpat.
In addition, Allama Iqbal Town, BOR Society, Green Town, Faisal Town, Punjab University, and other localities are connected to Ferozepur Route via this road. According to LDA Chief Engineer Mazhar Hussain Asif, heavy traffic in certain locations leads vehicles to sit in traffic for hours.

The signal-free road from Thokar to Manga via Chung and Mohlanwal is now under development, and work has been increased on the Gulab Devi Hospital Underpass, Sheranwala Gate, and Shahko Chowk Flyover. In addition, he stated that land acquisition for the Gulab Devi underpass is no longer necessary due to minor design modifications.
