Punjab to Set up Auto Parts Technology Park
Lahore: Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal disclosed that the government of Punjab intends to establish an Auto Parts Technology Park close to Lahore to support the expanding industrialization.

The new facility will be built in the Quaid-e-Azam Business Park, Sheikhupura, which is a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of the multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and one of eight industrial parks operating under the Punjab government.
During a meeting with members of the Punjab Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (PIEDMC), Iqbal stated that the Auto Parts Technology Park would be built on nine acres of land and would aid the auto industry in terms of product design, training centres, parts manufacturing, testing, and allied facilities.
The Quaid-e-Azam Business Park would include a variety of sectors, such as textile, pharmaceutical, plastic, cleaning goods, clothing, auto components, cosmetics, and cold storage. The minister boasted that the Punjab government’s establishment of new industrial zones in the state had paved the way for an industrial revolution.

The minister stated that the Sundar-Raiwind and Manga-Raiwind roads would be extended to facilitate traffic flow in the Sundar Industrial Estate.
According to auto parts makers, the country requires such economic zones for the automotive industry, but the government must also ensure that the park is not dominated by Chinese technology exclusively.
