Saud Shakeel will captain the Quetta Gladiators in the upcoming tournament, according to confirmation from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) squad. In the 2024 edition, Riley Rossouw of South Africa was the most recent player to captain the team; nevertheless, the team’s 50/50 record forced the management to change.

Team owner Nadeem Omar has revealed that Saud Shakeel, the team’s vice-captain the previous season, will lead the squad next season. Since Saud is typically regarded as a more traditional batter and his technique is inappropriate for the modern game, the choice will cause some people to take notice.

Although his proficiency in the game’s most extended format has benefited Pakistan, he has yet to prove himself as a member of the international squad for the game’s shortest format.

Saud has performed admirably in ten games while playing for the Quetta Gladiators. At a strike rate of 141.6 and an average of 35.88, the left-hander has scored 323 runs in 10 innings thus far.

If Quetta can assemble a team around him for the upcoming campaign, Saud will undoubtedly be able to succeed in Sarfaraz Ahmed’s place as captain.

Following Sarfaraz Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, and Riley Rossouw, Saud will be the fourth captain to lead the Quetta Gladiators.

The PSL 4 winners will be looking forward to a more robust season in the upcoming tournament, which will follow the ICC Champions Trophy the following year.
