Railways’ ML-1 on 10th JCC agenda
Islamabad: According to news reports, the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) will discuss the multibillion-dollar Main Line (ML)-1 railway project at its upcoming meeting this Friday, July 16. The idea to build a railway line connecting Peshawar and Karachi will be finished in seven to eight years if it is approved.

The 10th JCC will address a wide variety of development initiatives taking place under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) programme and is planned to take place virtually on July 16, 2021. However, the ML-1 will be reviewed first because there are still significant discrepancies between the two nations’ estimates of the project’s costs.
The second distinction in the project is the makeup value, which the Chinese government is offering at a rate of 2.4%, in line with previous projects; however, the Pakistani side has claimed that money should be provided at a rate of 2% due to the size of the project and significant building costs.

Also, according on the sources, the Pakistani government would make an effort to persuade the Chinese government to begin the bidding process and then increase the price if necessary. The project is expected to be completed in seven to eight years.
